Those of you who know Slick and I should be aware of our love of the late 90's show "Sports Night". You probably also know of my wife's immense hatred of the show too.
Created by Aaron Sorkin and Tommy Schlame of West Wing and Studio 60 fame, this was a show way ahead of it's time. According to TvShowsonDVD.com, Shout Factory will bring us the definitive Sports Night box set to mark the show's 10th anniversary. Those of you in the know are aware that Shout Factory has also brought us the wonderful Freaks and Geeks boxset, the Greg the Bunny Film Parodies set, the complete My So Called Life, and Undeclared amongst others. As you can see, they don't mess around.
If you missed the show the first time around, do yourself a huge favor and check this set out when it hits stores this September. Wonderful acting from Peter Krause, Felicity Huffman, Robert Guillaume, Josh Charles and Josh Malina highlight this smartly written and clever look at a big time ESPN-esque sports conglomerate. It's not a show about sports - it's a show about people and it's just damn good. Plus, there is a great William H. Macy reoccurring guest role and that's just jelly to anyone's peanut butter.
