Georgia native Cat Power is our featured artist today on the Countdown to Bonnaroo. Best known for her minimalist stlye, Power sings with an sometimes earthy, sometimes ethereal voice on tracks that feature light guitar and piano. Hailed by critics, her live shows have been somewhat chaotic in the past according to all the information I have read about her, mainly due to her bouts with alcoholism. Over the last couple of years, however, everyone says that Power has gotten her act together and is polished and enjoyable in concert. Today's selection is her single "Could We" from 2006 release The Greatest. This was Power's seventh release and the first not to feature any cover songs. Perhaps not coincidently, it was her highest charting album and best received.
