Hello, it's the resident comic book geek here. I just wanted to take a moment to link to an interview from Newsarama with Robert Kirkman, author of The Walking Dead. Kirkman holds a special place in my heart because he is a fellow Kentuckian and a true success story. His creator owned series Invincible and The Walking Dead have spring boarded him into successful (and surely better paying) gigs for Marvel Comics (Ultimate X-Men, Marvel Team Up, Marvel Zombies). But it's the Walking Dead that is the focus here. This is the little book that could, starting out selling less than a couple of thousand copies of the initial issues and then growing into a strong selling, critically acclaimed series that is now ready to hit issue #50. Not too bad for a fellow from Richmond! Plus, he's a nice guy to boot.
It's just this simple when it comes to The Walking Dead. It's a great book. I am not a horror person. I do not watch these types of movies and I have never loved zombies. But I cannot get enough of this book. Everyone I know that has given it a shot has grown to love it as well, even if they are not comic book fans. If you know me in real life outside of the interweb and want to read this, give me a shout. I am more than happy to loan out the first trades.
UPDATE: Here is part two of the interview with Kirkman where he discusses the evolution of the series.
